State Road 55SR 55 is a fairly long, but mainly minor road reaching from Gary in northwestern Indiana to northwest of Crawfordsville, where it once ended. While the northern ending point seems strange, it's not the only road that ends at a county road in Lake County.SR 55 goes from Gary to Wingate via Merrillville, Crown Point, and Attica. The only non multiplexed multilane parts of SR 55 are in Merrillville and Crown Point. In the 1930s, the paths of SR 53 and SR 55 were swapped in Lake County to their current routes. |
