State Road 63State road 63 covers the extreme western area of Indiana from Carbondale (west of Attica) to Merom south of Terre Haute. While it has been a continuous route, the stretch in the middle was removed in 2008 making yet another discontinuous route.The stretch from Terre Haute north where US 41 hooks inward is a partially controlled expressway, with some interchanges. It serves as the major north-south highway in favor of US 41 in this area. Construction of the expressway began in the late 1960s (short section south of Newport) and was completed in the early 1980s. South of Terre Haute, US 41 again becomes the primary highway and SR 63 becomes a typical narrow state highway ending in Merom. |
